ANCC-Western Region Delegation Meets with Canada’s Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan

On Thursday October 26th, ANCC-Western Region Chairman Hagop Deragopian and Co-Chair Vahe Andonian were present at the Liberal Party of Canada’s fundraising gala entitled “An Evening with the Hon. Harjit S. Sajjan”, Canada’s Minister  of National Defence and MP for Vancouver South.

The ANCC representatives had short meetings with Honourable Harjit Sajjan, and with Canada’s Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour the Honourable Patricia Hajdu, MP for Thunder Bay- Superior North.

They also met with Hon. Sajjan’s assistant Manjeet Vinning, and with Liberal Party of Canada (BC) President Manjot Hallen.

ANCC representatives discussed the upcoming UN Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial Conference, hosted in Vancouver in November, where Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan will also participate. The ministers were briefed about Syrian Armenian refugees who settled in Canada and were  impressed with  their smooth transition  into the workforce, into schools, and into the Canadian society in general.

They also discussed a future meeting to talk about the Republic of Artsakh and how Canada can use its years of peacekeeping experience to help solve aggression against the peace loving people of Artsakh.
